Writer's biography
Danielle L. Schultz is a freelance writer specializing in features and corporate communications. She has pu
blished dozens of feature articles in magazines, newspapers and trade journals, and written newsletters, brochures, reports, etc. for a wide variety of corporate clients.
Ms. Schultz’s varied career background gives her an ability to tackle many subjects. Since selling her first feature article in 1983 (on education), she has years of experience in freelance copywriting and features. She took a hiatus for 10 years to raise and homeschool her daughter, while pursuing interests in the arts and investments. In 2005, she began work on a French textbook program for middle school students and homeschoolers, First Start French. The first volume, published by Memoria Press, debuted in 2007. The second volume was published in 2009. Ms. Schultz produces a free monthly newsletter which reaches over 600 subscribers, giving tips and information on French language learning.
She also has 7 years’ experience as a licensed residential real-estate broker. Prior to 1983, she worked for various government agencies and non-profits in the social services, writing newsletters, grant proposals and contract reports.
In 1977, Ms. Schultz earned an MA from the University of Chicago in Social Service Administration. Her BA in Sociology (magna cum laude) is from Northeastern Illinois University. She's a member of Mensa, the Author's Guild, Independent Writers of Chicago (IWOC), and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Ms. Schultz lives in Evanston, Illinois, with her daughter and a menagerie of pets. She's a passionate cook, a manic gardener, a confirmed Francophile and a ready traveler. She spends her spare moments worrying about the stock market and creating wearable art.
